British Rowing World Class Start at Bewl Bridge Rowing Club

The British Rowing World Class Start Programme gives you the opportunity to push yourself to achieve more than you thought you could, expand your horizons, and develop into a high-performance athlete.

You do not need any prior rowing experience; just the right physique and attitude to give rowing a go.

For more information go to:

To sign up, click on the link at the bottom of that page.

Where would I train? Training (and testing) is based at Bewl Bridge Rowing Club. A lot of gym training is also required - that location is organised case by case.

I have never rowed before. Will I be at a disadvantage in the WCS testing? No. The testing is designed to just look for strength and fitness - there is no skill element or rowing involved.

Do you take age into account when looking at test results? Yes.

I’m under 18 but not tall enough for World Class Start. Can I still row at Bewl Bridge RC? Yes definitely! Please contact: juniors@bewlrowingclub.co.uk

I’m not tall enough for World Class Start, can I still row for Great Britain? Yes definitely! World Class Start is NOT selection for the Great Britain Rowing Team.
